A disposable face mask is a single-use protective face covering that helps block airborne particles, droplets, and contaminants. Made from multiple layers of non-woven fabric, including a melt-blown filter, it provides protection against dust, bacteria, and viruses. These masks are widely used in medical settings, workplaces, and for everyday personal protection.
We commonly divided disposable masks into 3 categories, including disposable face masks and disposable dust masks, Filtering Face Piece (FFP) masks, etc.
✅Disposable face mask: Designed for medical and general protection, preventing droplets, bacteria, and dust from entering the respiratory system. Made of 3 layers of non-woven fabric, including a melt-blown filtration layer, and can be classified under ASTM Level 1-3 (US standard) or YY/T 0969 (China standard), usually used for hospitals, personal protection, and clinics.
✅Disposable dust mask: Disposable dust masks can protect against dust and airborne particles but do not offer medical-grade bacterial filtration. Made from filter cotton or includes an activated carbon layer to reduce dust, pollen, and mild harmful gases. Commonly used for personal protection of construction work, mining, woodworking, sanding, and dusty work environments!
✅Filtering face piece (FFP) mask :Provides a higher level of filtration for airborne particles and pollutants, with some models suitable for medical use. It can be classified into 3 levels under European standard EN 149: FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3. It can be perfect to use for personal protection in healthcare, laboratories, hazardous chemical environments, and heavy industrial pollution areas.
>> Type I Disposable Face Masks:These masks have a BFE of 95%, it can filter out larger respiratory droplets when you exhale. Type I disposable masks are typically worn by the public and patients to help reduce the spread of infections.
>> Type II Disposable Face Masks: With a BFE of 98%, Type II masks offer a higher level of protection compared to Type I. While they can be used in the same environment as Type I masks, they’re also widely used in hospitals and other medical settings, providing better protection for both healthcare workers and patients.
>> Type IIR Disposable Face Masks: It’s similar to Type II, with a 98% BFE, but they also have a splash-resistant layer that helps protect against droplets from coughs and sneezes. These masks are ideal for high-risk environments like hospitals, dental clinics, and nursing homes.
